What's New with the Story?
The game is set 10 months after Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In this sequel, a new host of problems and villains has arrived, and both Peter and Miles have to reconcile their respective personal issues.
Villains
There are plenty of new villains that were introduced in the game, the main ones being Kraven the Hunter and the Venom symbiote. A cast of minor villains was also added, which is surely a delightful surprise for the loyal Spider-Man comic book fans.
Symbiote Spider-Man
As previously mentioned, Venom appears as a villain in this game, which means that symbiote-suit Spider-Man also makes an appearance. This version of Peter Parker is darker and grittier, so expect a different vibe emanating from our beloved web-slinger.
What are the New Gameplay Mechanics in Spider-Man 2?
A new game also comes with new gameplay elements. Spider-Man 2 gameplay introduces a lot of new and improved elements from the previous game.
Combat
New combat mechanics have been implemented in the game, such as parrying and creating paths using lines of the web. Gadgets have also been upgraded, and with the introduction of Peter's symbiote suit, players can also take advantage of symbiote powers in combat. Spider-Man 2 combat feels familiar with a few additions to spice things up.
Mission Select
Players can now replay missions after the New Game Plus update. This gameplay feature lets you relive your favorite in-game mission whenever you want. Just choose the one you want to replay in the Missions tab.
Swinging and Traversal
As a core part of the Spider-Man games, web swinging is improved in Spider-Man 2. It is now faster and much more streamlined, which directly contributes to the overall fun factor of the game. A new traversal mechanic was also added in the game through Web Wings, which functions as a wingsuit and allows both Peter and Miles to glide all over New York, as well as make use of wind tunnels while roaming.
More Playable Characters
More characters can be played in comparison to the previous game. Aside from Peter and MJ, you will also be able to play as Miles Morales, Hailey Cooper, a young Peter Parker, and the villain, Venom.
Skill Tree
The game features a new skill tree, along with enhanced skills that can either be unique or shared between the two Spider-Men. This creates a new customization experience for players that lets them tailor the game to their play style.

Fast Travel
Fast travel is now instant, skipping the loading screen and dropping you into the game seamlessly.
Photo Mode
The Photo Mode has been updated with various new features and poses. There's also the addition of lighting, swapping suits, stickers, frames, and many more.
Accessibility
New accessibility features such as modifiers and sliders have been added. The usual trappings of color, audio, and visual presets are also in the game, which will definitely make things a lot more accessible to many people.

Finally, new suits and styles have been added to the game. You can expect to see a variety of themes, both serious and wacky. The addition of styles and the new suit tech system enables players to customize their suits even further, creating a tailor-made suit fit for their play style.
