1. Know Which Spider-Man to Use

Miles and Peter

Peter and Miles approach enemies and missions quite differently. In particular, Miles has abilities that make him better in stealth and stronger against specific enemies. Peter will eventually have access to the symbiote, giving him stronger moves that can also clear waves of enemies. Make sure you consider their strengths and weaknesses before engaging, especially before starting side missions.

2. Spend Your Skill Points Wisely

Skill Tree

There are three Skill Trees in Spider-Man 2, one for each Spidey and one that they share. The smart way to do it is to invest your points in the shared Skill Tree first. Traversal skills make swinging around the city more fun but they aren't as useful as combat skills. In the early game, it's better to prioritize abilities that will help you survive, stay undetected, or defeat enemies.

3. Practice Parrying and Dodging

Parrying

Parrying is a new addition to Spider-Man 2. Compared to the first game where you can only time dodges to avoid enemy attacks, you can now parry certain attacks. This is an important skill to learn early since eventually, you'll encounter stronger enemies with attacks you need to parry in order to avoid damage or make them vulnerable.

4. Learn How to Swing Better

Swinging

You'll spend a lot of time in Spider-Man 2 just swinging through its improved and bigger rendition of New York City. Swinging is nuanced and learning how to do it will help you maintain your speed and accuracy when chasing bad guys. Swing high and dive to gain speed before staying close to the ground to make traversal more efficient.

5. Take Advantage of Your Web Wings (and Tall Buildings)

Web Wings

Spider-Man 2 introduces a new way to get around the city, your very own Web Wings. This wingsuit lets you glide with great speed, reaching far distances without ever touching the ground. Find a tall building, take a huge leap of faith, and spread your wings. The city is even nice enough to provide spots where you can glide through for a speed boost.

6. Don't Forget to Use Your Gadgets

Gadgets

The Impact Web from the first game doesn't make a return in Spider-Man 2 but that doesn't mean you don't have other powerful gadgets to help you fight crime. The Ricochet Web, for example, is quite expensive but packs a punch. Using gadgets also helps you save focus for healing instead of performing finishers to take out enemies.

7. Puzzles are Skippable

Puzzles

Pretending to be as smart as Peter and Miles while solving difficult science puzzles adds another layer of immersion to the game but it isn't for everyone. If you find the puzzles too boring or difficult, there's always an option to skip them. This also applies to a few minigames, like the bee minigame, in case you want to get right into the action.
