Join with Invite Code

Invitation Code_Invitation Code

There are two ways to play multiplayer, and one of them is joining with an invite code. With this method, the host enables multiplayer in the world settings and issues an invite code for others to join. This is the easiest way to join your friends.

Play with a Maximum of 4 Players

With an invite code, you can play with a maximum of 4 players. It is recommended for those who want to play with a specific small group of people. If there are more than 5 players, joining a dedicated server is the way to go.

Everyone Disconnects if the Host Leaves

With an invite code, everyone will be disconnected from the game if the host leaves. This method can only be played in the host’s world, so it is recommended for groups who have a dedicated host.

Join a Dedicated Server

Multiplayer_Dedicated Server

You can also play multiplayer by joining a dedicated server. A dedicated server allows you to join official servers or privately set up servers. These servers support simultaneous play of up to 32 players.

For public servers, you can join by simply selecting the server. If you want to set up your own dedicated server, it requires more complicated steps compared to using an invite code. We have a separate article that explains it in detail, so if you want to set up a dedicated server, just click on the article below.

Setting Up a Server is Complicated

When setting up your own dedicated server, the process is more complex than joining with an invitation code in Multiplayer. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article if you wish to set up a dedicated server.

How to play multiplayer using an invite code
1 The host creates a world with multiplayer set to ON

3 Players input the invite code to join
  • 1The host creates a world with multiplayer set to ON

Local co-op play allows up to 4 players

If you want to play multiplayer with an invite code, make sure to set the Multiplayer option to ON when creating the world. The save data is stored in the world, so you can only log in and play while the host is running the game.

  • 2The host shares the invite code

The host issues an invitation code

After creating the world, the host should issue an invite code. You can find the invite code by opening the options from the menu, so it's a good idea to share the code with the members who want to join.

    • Copy & Paste works better

When sharing the invite code, it is better to use copy & paste. On the right side of the invite code, there is an eye button to display the code and a button to copy the invitation code. Sharing by copying and pasting reduces the risk of input errors compared to manually typing the code.

  • 3Players input the invite code to join

Participants can join by entering the invitation code

Once players have the invite code, they can join by entering the code from the Join Multiplayer Game (Invite Code) option on the title screen. Note that the save data is dependent on the host, so you cannot bring your own pre-existing world data or characters.

You can’t join dedicated servers that already have the maximum number of players. If you can't join, either wait until a slot in the server becomes available or play on another server.

Enter the IP address for personal servers

If you have set up a personal server for your friends, enter the server's IP address and port number in the input field at the bottom of the screen. If the address and numbers are correct, you can access your personal dedicated server.
