Passive Skill Selection

How to Select Passive Skills

Procedure for Careful Selection
1 Capture a Pal Merchant or a Black Marketeer
2 Place them in base and check the Pals for sale
3 If the desired skill is not available, put them in the box
4 Repeat steps 2-3 until the desired skill is obtained* Some skills cannot be obtained from merchants
5 Repeat breeding to inherit the skill
  • 1Capture a Pal Merchant or a Black Marketeer

Capture a Pal Merchant or Dark Merchant

In order to carefully select the Passive Skill of a Pal, capture a Pal Merchant or a Black Marketeer. If the player is unsuccessful with catching the Pal Merchant while an NPC is nearby, the player will become wanted for committing a crime. Attacking Black Marketeers will not anger NPC's.

  • 2Place them in base and check the Pals for sale

Place them at the base and check the Pal for sale

Once you capture a Pal Merchant, place them in base and check the Pals they have for sale. Purchase the Pal with the desired Passive Skill.

  • 3If the desired skill is not available, put them in the box

Put it in the box if the desired skill is not available

If you don’t see the desired skill in the Pal Merchant’s available Pals, return it to the Palbox. Each time you take the Pal Merchant out of the box, the Pals for sale will change. This means you can repeat the process until you find the skills you want.

  • 4Repeat steps 2-3 until the desired skill is obtained

Repeat steps 2 until the desired skill is obtained

Repeat steps 2-3 until you get the desired Passive Skill from the Pal Merchant. To inherit skills through breeding, prepare two Pals with the desired skill.

    • Some skills cannot be obtained from the merchant.

Skills not available from the merchant
      Passive_Gold Legend ・Attack +20.0%
      ・Defense +20.0%
      ・Movement Speed +15.0%
      Passive_Gold Lucky ・Work Speed +15%
      ・Attack +15%
      Passive_Gold Elemental Attack Increase
      (e.g. Flame Emperor)
      ・Elemental Attack Damage +20.0%

Some skills, such as unique and Legendary passives, cannot be obtained from the merchant. However, they can be inherited, so it is recommended to go to the Pal's location and capture it.

  • 5Repeat breeding to inherit skills

    Repeat breeding to inherit skills

Once you have Pals with the desired skills, breed them repeatedly to inherit the skills. Breeding requires one male Pal, one female Pal, and Cake. Note that skills are not always inherited, so it is advisable to repeat the breeding process multiple times.

Skill Name Effect
Passive_Gold Artisan ・Work speed +50%
Passive_Buff Work Slave ・Work speed +30%

Passive_Gold Workaholic ・SAN value drops slower +15%
Passive_Buff Positive Thinker ・SAN value drops slower +10%
Passive_Gold Swift ・Movement speed increased by 30%

For Base Pals, it’s recommended to get skills that increase work speed, increase movement speed, and restore Sanity. Their work efficiency will significantly increase if they have all the best passives in these categories.

Skill Name Effect
Passive_Gold Motivational Leader - Increases Player's work speed by 25%
Passive_Gold Logging Foreman - Increases Player's logging efficiency by 25%
Passive_Gold Mine Foreman - Increases Player's mining efficiency by 25%
Passive_Gold Vanguard - Increases Player's attack by 10%
Passive_Gold Stronghold Strategist - Increases Player's defense by 10%

It is recommended to have Pals with skills that benefit the Player. Since passives can stack, if all your five Pals have Motivational Leader, the Player's work speed will increase by 100%.

Skill Name Effect
Passive_Gold Swift ・Increase movement speed by 30%
Passive_Buff Runner ・Increase movement speed by 20%
Passive_Gold Legend ・Increase attack by 20%
・Increase defense by 20%
・Increase movement speed by 15%
Passive_Buff Nimble ・Increase movement speed by 10%

For mount Pals, inheriting skills that increase movement speed is recommended. Fill all four slots with movement speed increase and the total movement speed will increase by 85%, making traveling more easier.

Skill Name Effect
Passive_Gold3 Musclehead ・Increase attack by 30%
・Decrease work speed by 50%
Passive_Gold3 Ferocious ・Increase attack by 20%
Passive_Gold3 Legend ・Increase attack by 20%
・Increase defense by 20%
・Increase movement speed by 15%
Passive_Gold3 Elemental Attack Increase

For a combat-focused Pal, it is recommended to use passive skills that increase attack power. Musclehead has a high attack power increase effect, but it also comes with a 50% decrease in work speed, so it is not recommended to assign it to Pals used at the base.
