How to Parry

To parry, press L1 during the enemy's attack animation. The window of opportunity is quite long, so press L1 with plenty of time.

The key to parrying is a short window of opportunity

The key to mastering parrying, which can be learned through skill, is that it restores a moderate amount of resolve upon successful parrying and allows for a powerful counterattack. However, the window of opportunity is shorter than parrying, and it will not activate unless you press L1 just before being hit.

Tips for Parrying

Press L1 after seeing the enemy start swinging their sword

Tips for Parrying

When performing a parry, make sure to press L1 after seeing the enemy start swinging their sword. The window for activating the parry is quite generous, so it is unlikely to fail unless you are not guarding at all times.

Use L1+◯ to dodge when the enemy glows red

Guarding or parrying with L1 will not work against attacks that come after the enemy glows red. When you see them glow red, use L1+◯ to dodge.

The key to performing parries is to equip the Mizu-no-Kami Charm. This charm increases the chances of successfully performing parries and unlocking advanced skills. It is highly recommended to obtain it as a top priority for battles with enemies until the end of the story.

The charm can be obtained at the Spring Falls Shrine. The shrine is located near the Kukai's Falls in the northwest of Izuhara, so make sure to stop by and obtain the Mizu-no-Kami Charm when doing other quests.
