Techniques and Tips for Samurai Style

Differentiating Strong Strikes and Rapid Strikes

Strong Strike in Ghost of Tsushima

There are two types of sword attacks:

  1. "Heavy Sword Attack" using the triangle (△) button; and
  2. "Quick Sword Attack"/"Assassinate" using the square (□) button.

"Heavy Sword Attack" has a slower swing but is effective for breaking the enemy's guard, while "Quick Sword Attack" has a faster swing but is more easily defended against. Use "Heavy Sword Attack" when the enemy is defending and switch to "Quick Sword Attack" when their guard is down.

Performing Blocks and Parries

In battles, blocking and parrying enemy attacks create opportunities for counterattacks. After a successful parry, the enemy is vulnerable, so observe their movements carefully and actively strike! However, if the enemy's attack glows red, it cannot be blocked, so evade instead.
