Defeating the Final Boss, Shimura
After composing a poem, the duel with the final boss, Shimura, begins. Shimura's moves are easy to understand, but be careful as he can quickly deplete your health with consecutive attacks. Defend against his regular attacks and gradually chip away at his health.
Choosing to "Kill" or "Spare" Shimura
After winning the battle against Shimura, you will be given the choice to respect Shimura's wishes and either kill or spare him. Both choices will lead to game completion, but the cutscenes and rewards will differ, so choose carefully.

Defend against normal attacks and then counterattack
Since Shimura uses a lot of normal attacks, defend or parry his attacks and then counterattack. However, be careful not to attack too many times in a row, as you may become unable to avoid Shimura's attacks.
How to Parry and Tips |
Use strong attacks when Shimura is in the sheathed stance
When Shimura sheathes his sword and assumes the sheathed stance, close the distance and land strong attacks. Since he is not defending during the sheathed stance, you can reliably deal damage. However, if he doesn't stagger after a few slashes, he will perform a quick sheathed attack, so create distance.
Create distance when Shimura raises his sword high
After raising his sword high, Shimura will unleash three consecutive attacks that cannot be defended against. When Shimura raises his sword, create distance to avoid them. After evading the third attack, it is recommended to attack a few times and then create distance again.
Attempt to parry his thrust attacks
Shimura's thrust attacks have clear message prompt, always attempt to parry them. If the parry is successful, you can follow up with a guaranteed attack and deal damage. However, if you have not learned the "Unyielding Sword Parry" technique, you cannot defend against thrust attacks, so try to evade if you haven't learned it.
