Start the quest from the Musician located north of Jogaku Temple

The mythic tale "The Undying Flame" can be obtained from the wandering musician who appears north of Mount Jogaku. To reach Mount Jogaku, you need to complete the main story quest "Honor and Ash," so first progress through the "Honor and Ash" quest until you reach Jogaku.

Guide for The Undying Flame
Head towards Mt. Jogaku
Once you accept the quest, head towards Mount Jogaku. Mount Jogaku is located north of the Jogaku Temple, and there are campfires along the path leading to the summit. Use the campfires as landmarks and aim for the summit of Mount Jogaku.
Aim for the summit while taking breaks at the campfires
When you arrive at the path leading to the summit of Mount Jogaku, aim for the summit while using the campfires along the way. Outside of the vicinity of the campfires, you will suffer slip damage due to the cold on Mount Jogaku. Take breaks at the campfires along the way and gradually make your way to the summit.
Defeat the master of the dojo and learn the Way of the Flame Technique
Once you arrive at the dojo at the summit of Mt. Jogaku, talk to the master of the dojo (Bettomaru). When you talk to the master of the dojo, you will enter into a battle after collecting the stone.
The master of the dojo attacks with a sword imbued with the fire attribute. If you are hit by the fire attribute sword attack, you will continue to suffer slip damage from the flames. Quickly rotate the ◯ button to extinguish the flames. When the master of the dojo's health is reduced to about 30%, the battle will end, and you will learn the Flame Sword.
Reward for The Undying Flame
The Way of the Flame Technique
The Way of the Flame is a mythic technique that consumes oil to imbue the sword with the fire attribute. Although the effect duration is short, it can set enemies ablaze upon striking, dealing massive damage. Additionally, it inflicts slip damage from the flames, making it recommended for battles against heavily armored soldiers with high health.
Furthermore, the technique can be learned without consuming any technique points. After completing the quest, you can immediately activate it by selecting it with the R2 button and the right directional button, and then activating it with the R1 button.
