How to Play the Flute

Swipe the touchpad from right to left

To play the flute, swipe the touchpad in the center of the controller from right to left. You can choose the song to play from the equipment menu, so try playing the flute at your preferred timing.

Benefits of Playing the Flute

Change the weather

Playing the flute for a while will change the weather. You can change the weather to your liking whenever you want, so it's recommended to set it to your favorite weather when exploring Tsushima.

Obtain a trophy

Playing the song "Lament of the Storm" in front of a friend's grave will earn you the trophy "Dirge of the Fallen Forge." The friend's grave is located to the east of Yarikawa Town, but it won't appear until you progress through the story, so advance the main quest if it's not yet on your map.

Troubleshooting when unable to play the flute

Play the flute away from enemies

If there are enemies nearby, you won't be able to play the flute. If you can't play the flute, make sure there are no enemies nearby and try again.

Stop and then play the flute

You can't play the flute while Jin is performing actions such as attacking or jumping. Stop and wait until Jin is not moving, then try playing again.

Restart the game

There are currently bugs that prevent the flute from being played. If the above two methods don't work, try restarting the game. You can manually save at any time from the menu, so it's recommended to save before restarting.

How to increase the number of songs

Collect fireflies

There are a total of four songs that can be played with the flute, and they will be unlocked as you collect singing crickets located throughout the map. Crickets are found in golden cages, so be sure to collect them when you find them.
