Notes Left by Survivors

Artifacts are notes left by people in the desolate world of The Last of Us. Many artifacts can be helpful for story progression, such as the combination to unlock a safe or the location of weapons and supplies. Look for them on desks and surfaces, inside drawers and containers, and on dead bodies.

Trading Cards

Cards with Comical Characters

Trading cards are small cards with characters from in-universe comic books. Unlike artifacts, they do not serve any practical purpose during the adventure. However, collecting cards allows you to get two trophies.

Coins

Coins with American States

Coins are pickupable collectibles with the American states on them. Like trading cards, they are not useful during the adventure, but by collecting them, you can earn two trophies.

Journal Entries

Ellie's Journal

Journal entries are notes that Ellie writes from investigating specific locations. They contain poems and events beyond what is shown onscreen and reflect Ellie's feelings. Although they are not helpful to the gameplay, they provide the best understanding of Ellie's emotions and thoughts, and they also contribute to the trophy requirements. Make sure not to miss any opportunities to record them.

Workbenches

Spots for Weapon Upgrades

Workbenches are places where you can upgrade weapons using collected parts. Weapon upgrades can only be done at workbenches, but there are chapters without them. Be sure to use workbenches when they are available.

Safes

Locked Containers that Hide Items

Safes, when opened, give items such as ammunition, supplies, parts, and crafting materials. They may also contain weapons, holsters, and collectibles. Since resources are scarce in the game, it is recommended to open them as soon as you can.

Magazines that Unlock New Skills

Training Manuals are magazines that unlock skill trees. By spending supplements, you can unlock new skills that enhance or allow new approaches to the gameplay.

Weapons
