Maintain Distance in Melee Combat
Anticipate chaotic melee combat with numerous infected in this section. Use the L1 button to dodge and dash, ensuring a safe distance from these enemies.
Finding Strings Walkthrough
| 1 | At the beginning of the section, inspect the cliff on the right to get a Journal Entry. |
| 2 | Accept the rifle from Tommy and practice sniping enemies. |
| 3 | Follow Joel and get the Austringer trading card from the seat of the car near the hotel. |
| 4 | After examining the front door of the hotel, crawl through the rubble on the right. |
| 5 | Upon entering the hotel, open the front door for Joel. |
| 6 | Get the Tara's Invitation artifact from the shelf in room 107 within the spore area. |
| 7 | Proceed forward and eliminate the infected in the dining hall. |
| 8 | Leave the lounge, squeeze through the wall, and fight the Bloater. |
| 9 | Advance through the hotel and come across the body of an infected. |
Sniping Enemies with the Rifle
There will be a rifle target practice with Tommy at the beginning. Follow his advice to aim slightly above the enemy for easier sniping. When dealing with enemies near the lift, target their heads just below the line on the scope.
Defeating Infected in the Dining Hall
Engage in a fight with several infected upon entering the dining hall with Joel. Utilize the L1 button to maneuver effectively. Exercise caution around Clickers and always maintain distance from the enemies.
Fighting the Bloater
Before concluding the section, you'll face a battle with a Bloater. The enemy's charging attack is noticeable; attempt to dodge or dash. Once you've created a certain distance, aim for a headshot.
Runners will also be present during the battle, so avoid being grabbed by the Bloater. Continue moving constantly and only pause when attempting to attack the enemy.

Grabbed by the Bloater
After a certain amount of time, the Bloater will start chasing Ellie in a straight line. When the Bloater relentlessly pursues her, getting grabbed will trigger a cutscene and advance the story.
