Tips for Fighting Rattlers
Unchain the Infected
The Rattlers capture infected by chaining them up. Press the △ button near the chains to release the infected and distract the Rattlers. Take advantage of the opportunity to reduce their numbers or avoid them and progress further. However, be careful as the infected can also attack Ellie. Approach stealthily to avoid being noticed by the infected.
Shoot Unarmormed Body Parts
Some of the Rattlers are wearing helmets and bulletproof vests. It is difficult to deal damage through armor, so when aiming with a gun, target their unprotected body parts like their limbs.
The Bow Penetrates Armor
By fully drawing the bow before release, you can penetrate helmets and bulletproof vests, dealing damage without needing to aim for their limbs. Use the bow to take headshots and stealthily take them down from a distance.
Clear Them Out with Bombs and Molotov Cocktails
Rattlers are rarely alone, so you can lure multiple Rattlers together with noise then throw bombs and Molotov Cocktails to take them all out at once. After the Rattlers' Hideout, there aren't any more combat encounters requiring resources so feel free to use up your ammunition and crafting materials during this section.

Rattlers' Locations
Found in the Resort in Santa Barbara
Rattlers only appear in the Resort in Santa Barbara during the later part of the story and don't appear in any other chapters. It's not necessary to defeat all of them, and if you want to avoid combat, you can just ignore them and move on.
