Addition of Knife Parry Action
In RE4 Remake, a new action called "Parry" has been added. It allows players to counter enemy attacks. Not only can you block enemy attacks without taking damage, but if you time it right, you can follow up with a melee attack. This makes it an important action in combat.
Parry is also possible against long-range and chainsaw attacks
Parry can be used not only against long-range attacks such as throwing axes and crossbows, but also against attacks from chainsaws and large hammers. Depending on your proficiency with parrying, you'll be able to overcome various difficult situations.

Addition of Knife Coup de Grace Action
An action called "Coup de Grace" has also been added, allowing players to deliver a finishing blow to downed enemies. This action consumes a significant amount of the knife's durability, but it can instantly kill enemies even if they have remaining health. It can also prevent them from transforming into parasitic forms.
Durability has been added to the Knife
In RE4 Remake, just like in RE2, the Knife now has durability. The durability decreases gradually with attacks and parries. It also consumes a significant amount of durability when you escape from the enemy's grip. Therefore, strategic use of the Knife is required.
The Knife can be repaired by the Merchant
If the durability of the Knife runs out, it can be repaired by the Merchant. The Merchant appears in various locations on the map, so repair the Knife frequently to prevent it from breaking.
Crouch and Quick Time Events have been added
In RE4 Remake, the "crouch" and "quick time events" that were not present in the original version have been added. Both actions were implemented in titles after RE4 and are believed to have been added to expand the gameplay possibilities.
New enemies have been added
In RE4 Remake, in addition to the existing enemies, the presence of new enemies has also been confirmed. The official PV also shows the appearance of a large Brute wearing a bull's head, making the enemies even more powerful compared to previous installments.
Attaché Cases and Charms have been added
In RE4 Remake, new equipment such as the Attaché Cases and Charms have been implemented. Each type provides various buffs such as increased drop rates, healing effects, and bonus occurrence rates during crafting. This allows players to progress through the game advantageously by choosing their preferred buffs.

Addition of Item Crafting Feature
In RE4 Remake, similar to recent titles like "Bio Village," you can generate items through crafting. In addition to ammo, you can also create healing items, so it's important to explore and gather materials.
Addition of Side Quests
In RE4 Remake, a side quest feature called Blue Request Notes has been added. Fulfilling such requests allows you to obtain Spinels which can be used for item exchanges. Aim to clear requests while progressing through the story.
Japanese Voice Actors
Main Characters | Voice Actors |
---|---|
Leon S. Kennedy | Tomokazu Sugita |
Ashley Graham | Akari Kito |
Luis Serra | Kenjiro Tsuda |
In RE4 Remake, Japanese voice acting by renowned voice actors such as Tomokazu Sugita and Akari Kito has been included. Compared to previous titles that only had English voice acting and subtitles, it allows for a more immersive gaming experience for the Japanese players.
Misheard Lyrics, a Comedy Element
Even in the dubbed version, you can enjoy the misheard Spanish phrases spoken by the Ganados (villagers) without any issues. There are also new misheard lyrics like "Gesen Beer" and "Ano~ Channel registration, please..." which add a new comedic element to the game.
Changes from the Previous Game
Ashley's Visuals Have Been Revamped
The visuals of the heroine Ashley have been completely revamped. In addition to her hairstyle, her clothing has also been updated. The new visuals give off a more mature impression compared to the old visuals.
Removal of Ashley's Health Bar
In Resident Evil 4, Ashley had a health bar. However, in the Remake, it has been removed. Instead, she will be critically injured after receiving a certain number of attacks, requiring recovery.
Normal Combat with Krauser
The combat scene with Krauser has changed from a knife duel to a normal combat. In the original version, it was a QTE (Quick Time Event) system where you had to press the button at the right time, which received mixed reviews. This change is a welcomed one.
Ability to Move While Aiming the Gun
Starting from RE4 Remake, it became possible to aim and shoot while moving. Compared to previous games where you couldn't aim unless stay put. Now, the action has become more comfortable.

Unable to attack the Merchant
In the original version, it was possible to attack the Merchant. But in RE4 Remake, it is no longer possible. Guns cannot be aimed at him, and even items like Hand Grenade deal no damage.
Only Chicken Eggs can be thrown at him
Although the Merchant does not react to explosions, Chicken Eggs can be thrown at him. When a Chicken Egg is thrown, he reacts appropriately and even delivers angry lines. If you're interested, try throwing Chicken Eggs at him!
Changes in obtaining certain items
The methods of obtaining certain items such as the Punisher or treasure maps have been changed. In RE4 Remake, it has become a system where you collect a certain number of Gemstones for exchange, and there is no longer a need to break blue medallions outside of requests.
