Resident Evil 4: Mendez Boss Fight Strategy
- Last updated on
This article provides the Mendez Boss Fight Strategy in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Learn his weaknesses and attack patterns in this guide.
How to Defeat Mendez Phase 1
From the second floor, aim for the eyeball on his back
In the Mendez Boss battle, go up to the second floor right after the battle starts. Avoid Mendez's attacks and reach from the second floor. In this way, it will be easier to aim for the weak spot on his back and you can easily defeat his Phase 1.
Immediately attack with the Knife after bringing it down
Once Mendez is down, quickly attack him with the Knife from the side. When Mendez is down due to a certain amount of damage dealt to his weak spot, you can inflict further damage with follow-up Knife attacks.
How to Defeat Mendez Phase 2
Prioritize evasion due to intense attacks
When a certain amount of damage is dealt, Mendez will enter Phase 2 where its attack frequency increases and it becomes harder to dodge. When the enemy is attacking, prioritize dodging. Aim for his weak spot after the attack to deal damage using powerful weapons such as the Sniper Rifle or Shotgun.
Inflict damage by utilizing explosive barrels
In Mendez Phase 2, he attacks by throwing objects from the back. There are times when he throws an explosive barrel during his attack, so actively aim to shoot and explode the barrel to deal damage to him.
Mendez Attack Patterns
First Mutation
Grab Attack
Parry | Evade |
---|---|
✕ | ✕ |
The grab attack used in his first mutation is difficult to evade because the arms are swung widely. Parrying and evading are both impossible, so it is recommended to always fight on the second floor during his first mutation.
Sideways Swipe
Parry | Evade |
---|---|
✕ | ◯ |
The sideways swipe in his first mutation is used when Leon is on the second floor. It is easy to evade. After the attack, he exposes his weak spot on the back, so calmly evade and aim for the weak spot.
Second Mutation
Throwing Attack
Parry | Evade |
---|---|
✕ | ✕ |
The throwing attack in his second mutation can be evaded by moving sideways after Mendez throws. On the other hand, if he starts moving sideways while holding a throwing object, he will be trapped in the width of the indoor area and get hit directly. Therefore, dodge after the enemy performs the throwing attack.
Sideways Swipe
Parry | Evade |
---|---|
✕ | ◯ |
The sideways swipe in his second mutation can also be evaded, just like in his first mutation. When performing the sideways swipe, he swings from around the center of the indoor area, so do not miss the preparatory action, evade it, and attack during the vulnerability.
Charge Attack
Parry | Evade |
---|---|
✕ | ✕ |
The charge attack in Form 2 is fast, so if you don't dodge during the preparatory action, you will be hit directly. Mendez will say "Face your judgment!" before the charge attack, so immediately move sideways and evade when he speaks.
