Location of Gaster

Hidden Room Connected to the Crystal Room

Gaster_Crystal Room

Gaster appears in the area connected to the Crystal Room in Waterfall. When you enter the door, you will encounter Gaster. However, he does not have a physical form and cannot be interacted with. He disappears when spoken to.

Elevator R1 in Hotland

One of the Gaster-related characters appears in front of the RIGHT1 elevator in Hotland. Talk to them, to learn more about Gaster. Unfortunately, they disappear after the conversation ends.

Dialogue
* Alphys might work faster.

* But the old Royal Scientist, Doctor W.D. Gaster?

* One day, he vanished without a trace.

* They say he shattered across time and space.

* Ha ha...

* How can I say so without fear?

* I'm holding a piece of him right here.

Elevator L3 in Hotland

The second Gaster-related character appears in front of the LIGHT3 elevator in Hotland. Unlike the first character, they don't disappear after the conversation, but they are no longer there when you leave the area.

Dialogue
* It makes sense why Asgore took so long to hire a new Royal Scientist.

* After all, the old one...

* Dr. Gaster. What an act to follow!

* They say he created the CORE.

* However, his life... Was cut short.

* One day, he fell into his creation, and...
and became someone who cannot return...

* Will Alphys end up the same way?

Elevator L2 in Hotland

The third character related to Gaster appears in front of the elevator in Hotland, just like the second character. After the conversation, they don't disappear, but if you leave the area, they will be gone.

Dialogue
* I understand why ASGORE waited so long to hire a new Royal Scientist.

* The previous one...

* Doctor Gaster.

* His brilliance was irreplaceable.

* However, his life...

* ...Was cut short.

* One day, his experiments went wrong, and...

* Well, I needn't gossip.

* After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening.

Gaster and related characters are secrets that only appear when the Fun Value reaches a specific number. The Fun Value is randomly set when starting the game and can only be checked and modified in the PC version of Undertale.

Speculations about Gaster

Is Gaster's Consciousness Drifting in Space?

Speculation about Gaster 1

The third character who talks about Gaster says, "After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening." From this, it can be inferred that while Gaster himself may not exist, his consciousness may still be drifting in space.

It is also possible that Gaster is constantly drifting near the protagonist, who was a human searching for something before their death. However, this would create a stronger sense of horror.

Is Gaster Strongly Conected with Sans?

Sans_Attack

In the Sans battle during the Genocide Route, he uses a weapon that shoots beams. The weapon is called the Gaster Blaster, indicating a strong connection to Gaster.

Furthermore, in the True Laboratory, which is said to be the place where Gaster conducted research, there is a machine called the Extractor. Its shape somewhat resembles the Gaster Blaster. So, it is possible that it was used as a model.
