Asgore is the boss you encounter at the deepest part of New Home in the Neutral Route. He does not appear or have any events in the Pacifist or Genocide Routes.

Tips for Beating Asgore Battle

Prepare Multiple Recovery Items

Before the Asgore battle, it is recommended to purchase recovery items from various locations. If it is difficult to purchase them due to insufficient gold at the shops near the CORE, you can go back to Waterfall or Snowdin instead to buy recovery items.

Recommended Recovery Items List

Bisicle and Starfait are recommended as they can be obtained relatively cheaply. Bisicle is particularly important, since it can restore 11HP twice with just one item. If you are short on recovery items, it is recommended to go to Snowdin before the Asgore battle to buy them.

Recover with Butterscotch Pie

It is recommended to use Butterscotch Pie as a recovery item. The Butterscotch Pie obtained in Ruins not only fully restores HP but also reduces Asgore's attack and defense.

Perform "Talk" 3 times

By performing "Talk" 3 times in battle, you can lower Asgore's attack and defense. Combining it with the Butterscotch Pie makes the fight much easier. A good strategy is to focus on actions and healing for the first 4 turns.

How to Spare Asgore

The Only Way is to Defeat Him by Destroying "Spare"

When the battle with Asgore begins, the "Spare" command will be destroyed. Since there is no other choice but to defeat Asgore to end the battle, equip yourself with high attack power and defense.

The Final Choice Yields the Same Result

When Asgore's health is reduced to a certain extent, the options "Fight" and "Spare" will appear. Choosing either option will lead to the same result, so choose whichever you prefer.

Attacks Become Faster As Turns Progress

Asgore's attack patterns are limited, but the attacks become stronger and faster as turns progress. Learn the patterns early on while Asgore is weaker, and try to dodge quickly in the middle and later stages.
