Basic Information about Mettaton EX

Boss in the CORE for Neutral and Pacifist Routes

Mettaton EX is the boss fought in the deepest part of the CORE after passing through Hotland. It appears as Mettaton NEO in the Genocide Route. So, it is different from the Neutral and Pacifist routes.

Tips for Beating Mettaton EX Battle

Prepare Recovery Items

Before the Mettaton EX battle, purchase recovery items at the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium inside the MTT Resort. If it's too expensive, it's recommended to go back to Waterfall or Snowdin to buy recovery items.

Recommended Recovery Items Available at the MTT Resort

If you have enough gold, purchase recovery items available at the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium inside the MTT Resort. You can recover HP and increase ratings using these items. This also allows you to finish the Mettaton EX battle quickly.

Attack the Heart to Increase Ratings

Every few turns, Mettaton EX exposes its heart. Try to attack the heart, while avoiding Mettaton EX's attacks. The ratings will increase gradually when your attacks hit the heart.

After Shooting the Bomb, Immediately Move Sideways to Avoid it

Mettaton EX's attacks invovles bombs that you have to shoot. When you shoot the bomb, beams are released in a cross shape. So, quickly move sideways to avoid them. You have about a second to avoid this explosion.

Change the Mirror Ball attack to Blue

Attacking the Mirror Ball changes the White light's color to Blue. By changing it to Blue, you will not get hurt by the light. So, attack the Mirror Ball until all lights turn to Blue.

How to Spare Mettaton EX

Raising the Ratings to 12000 with Actions

To avoid Mettaton EX, select different actions while avoiding Mettaton EX's attacks to raise the Ratings. The Ratings can be tracked in the top left corner of the screen. Raise it to 12000 by selecting actions like Pose or Boast.

Battle Ends at 10000 Ratings after 20 Turns

After 20 turns, the battle will end even when the ratings only reach 10000. So, it is possible win by avoiding attacks for 20 turns and using recovery items with bonuses until you get at least 10000 Ratings.
