Neutral Route

Friendship End (Alfie's Friends ×)

The N Route is a route where you can reach the ending by defeating one or more monsters or bosses, or without triggering any friendship events. It has the most number of endings among the three routes, but if you don't meet the conditions for the G Route, the first playthrough will always result in the N Route.

Branching Conditions and List of Endings for the N Route

Branching to the N Route

Not meeting the conditions for the G Route at the start of the game
Defeating at least one monster
Not triggering the Friendship (Date) events
Not going to the True Laboratory
Facing Sans's judgment

Not Meeting the Conditions for the G Route and Defeating Enemies

Defeating monsters

To branch to the N Route, you need to not meet the conditions for the G Route and defeat at least one monster. Additionally, even if you don't defeat any monsters, you can still progress to the N Route if you don't trigger the friendship events with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys.

Not Going to the True Laboratory

Phone call from Papyrus

To end the game through the N Route after clearing the friendship events with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys, you need to go to New Home without going to the True Laboratory.

After Alphys' event, Papyrus will instruct you to go to the lab, but if you ignore it and proceed to New Home, the N Route will be confirmed.

Facing Sans's judgment

Sans's judgment

To confirm the N Route, face Sans's judgment at the end of New Home. Sans's judgment is an event exclusive to the N Route and does not occur in the P Route, while in the G Route, it leads to a battle with Sans.

Route Where No Monsters are Defeated

P Route Ending

The P Route is a route where you can reach the ending without defeating any monsters or bosses. During battles with monsters, you can progress by not attacking and instead taking specific actions to let them escape.

Branching to the P Route

Do not defeat any monsters or bosses
Clear the N Route at least once
Trigger a Friendship (Date) event
Go to the True Laboratory

Do Not Defeat Any Monsters or Bosses

Nigasu

To proceed to the P Route, you must not defeat any monsters or bosses. If you defeat even one, you will be locked into the N Route and cannot proceed to the P Route until you reset.

List of Ways to Spare All Monsters

Clear The N Route At Least Once

Flowey Hint

Some Friendship events and Pacifist runs can be achieved from the first playthrough. Alphys' friendship event does not occur during the first playthrough so you cannot branch to the P Route. To proceed to the P Route, make sure to clear the N Route at least once.

Branch to the P Route by Clearing The Pacifist N Route

If you progress through the first N Route playthrough without defeating any monsters, you will receive a hint to proceed to the P Route at the ending. After clearing the N Route, select Continue on the Start screen and clear the Friendship events in the order of "Papyrus → Undyne → Alphys" to proceed to the True Laboratory.

Triggering Friendship Events

Relaxed Start

To progress to the P route, you must advance without defeating any monsters or bosses, and trigger friendship events with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys. Progress through the dating events in the order of "Papyrus → Undyne → Alphys."

Genocide Route: Defeating All Monsters and Bosses

Undertale_ Hotland _Core_G Route

The G Route, short for Genocide Route, is a route where you defeat all monsters and bosses to reach the ending. To clear this route, you must defeat a specific number of monsters and certain designated monsters in each area.

While the G Route can be played from the first playthrough if the conditions are met, it is recommended to try it after completing the P Route or N Route due to the story's progression.

Difficulty is extremely high, and when you clear the G Route even once, the ending of the P Route will change slightly. You won't be able to see the original ending anymore.

In the Genocide Route, you generally have to defeat all encountered enemies, but there are also enemies that can be skipped, such as Napstablook. Additionally, there is no need to encounter Glyde, so you can ignore it when playing the Genocide Route.
