- Inability to Invite Groups between PS4 and PS5

Since October 5th (Wednesday), Overwatch 2 has been experiencing frequent server-related issues. When server errors occur, players may be unable to play Overwatch 2 or get kicked out of matches.

Causes and Solutions for Login Errors

Login Error

Unable to Connect to the Server

A login error occurs when you are unable to connect to the server, preventing you from playing the game. This means you won't be able to participate in quick matches, ranked matches, or even practice on your own.

The Cause Lies with the Server

Login errors are often caused by issues on the server side, which are beyond the control of the players. This can happen when there is an unexpectedly high influx of users overwhelming the server, or when there are problems with the server itself.

Possibility of DDoS Attacks

On October 5th, when Overwatch 2 was released, there were major connectivity issues due to a large-scale DDoS attack. Although the situation eventually calmed down, there is still a possibility of further attacks.

What is a DDoS Attack?
A cyber attack that involves overwhelming a website or server with excessive access or data, causing access denial or network delays.

The Solution is to Wait for the Developers to Resolve the Issue

When facing a login error, the only option is to wait for the server error to be resolved. It is not a problem on the user's end, but rather an issue that the developers need to address. So, let's patiently wait for the developers to fix the server problem.

Causes and Solutions for Server Disconnection

Unable to Connect Due to Server Error (Server Down)

When a server disconnection occurs, regardless of whether it's in quick match or ranked match, the connection is suddenly lost and the player is returned to the login screen. In the case of ranked matches, if the player can quickly reconnect, there is a possibility of rejoining the match. However, if the player cannot return, they will receive a penalty and be prohibited from participating in ranked matches for a certain period of time.

The Cause Lies in Server or Network Issues

Server disconnections often occur due to problems with the game's servers or the network being used. If the issue lies with the game's servers, it could be due to an unexpected influx of users, among other reasons. If it's a network issue, there may be problems with connection stability or communication speed, leading to disconnections.

Reports of Cheating Causing Unexpected Errors

One of the causes of server disconnections is the report of cheats intentionally causing disconnections. When a match is reaching its final stages and the outcome seems certain, the server suddenly becomes slow, resulting in a disconnection and a draw decision.

The Solution Lies in Reviewing the Network

Summary of Network Review Methods
Check if there are any issues with the router or port settings
Confirm that the data communication capacity is not exceeding the maximum value
If using a wireless connection, try switching to a wired connection

To address server disconnections, it is necessary to review the network settings. To determine if the issue lies with the server, check if there are any reports of network disconnections or server issues on social media. If there are none, it is likely that the issue is with your own network. In that case, check the settings of your router and ports.

Reasons and Solutions for Not Being Able to Form Groups on PS4 and PS5

Unable to Form Groups and Play Together

There is a bug where even if you send a group invitation, it may not reach the other person, or even if it does and they approve the group join, you cannot form a group. However, forming groups between PS5 consoles or with PC players works without any issues.

The Cause is Likely a Server Bug

Since the November 18th update, there has been an increase in cases where group invitations cannot be sent, indicating a high possibility of some kind of bug. There have been no official announcements from the developers, so let's wait for further updates.

The Solution is to Have the Same PS Version

If a PS5 player plays OW2 on the PS4 version, they will be able to form a group with PS4 players. If you want to form a party with PS4 players on your PS5, make sure to download the PS4 version.
