Basic Performance and Evaluation

High maximum HP

Bastion has a maximum HP of 300 and has the highest damage. The higher your HP, the more difficult it is to be defeated, making it easier to deal consistent damage.

Ability cooldown is long

Baptiste has excellent abilities, but his weakness is that his abilities have long cooldowns. Regenerative Burst is 15 seconds and Immortality Field is 25 seconds, so they cannot be used immediately. If you are attacked by an enemy during cooldown, you will have to fight with only weapons and passives, so avoid being isolated.

Heal Your Allies from High Ground

When using Baptiste, take a high ground position to heal your teammates. Baptiste's submachine gun can heal, and shooting from a higher position makes it easier to aim since the bullets drop. Take advantage of this by actively positioning yourself on high ground to both heal and attack your teammates while observing the formations of the enemy and allied teams.

Provide Support to Your Allies with Firepower

Baptiste not only provides healing but also supports his allies with firepower. His hitscan three-round burst shots can deal high damage when accurately landed. Mix in attacks between healing to provide support to your allies with both healing and firepower.

Use Your Ultimate Ability as Soon as It Charges

Baptiste's ultimate ability, Amplification Matrix, should be used as soon as it charges. This ultimate ability enhances the power of attacks and healing that pass through the deployed wall. However, it does not have the ability to turn the tide of a disadvantageous situation, so use it with the consciousness of making the situation advantageous.

Countermeasures

Anti-Pick: Sombra

Baptiste's troublesome ability, "Immortality Field," prevents allies from dying, but it can be disabled by Sombra's ability to "Hack." Exploit the enemies relying on Baptiste's ability by disabling it with Sombra.

Defeat with a close-range damage dealer

Due to Baptiste's focus on survivability and decent firepower with his primary weapon, he is well-rounded in both medium and long-range combat. To defeat him effectively, it is recommended to use characters such as Genji or Reaper, who excel at ambushes and deal damage, and finish him off after his abilities have been used.

Compatible Characters

Soldier:76

Good compatibility with mid-range attack characters

Baptiste is not good at healing long-range allies, and Regenerative Burst can only heal those in the vicinity. However, Soldier:76, another mid-range character, can make the most of it, so they have good compatibility.

Regenerative Burst

Activate near allies

Activate Regenerative Burst after getting close to allies. There is no limit to the number of targets it can affect, and it becomes more effective the more allies it includes.

Hold off on activating when there is an enemy flanker

When there is an enemy flanker, hold off on activating Regenerative Burst until you are being targeted by the flanker. Baptiste's burst fire from the Three-Round Burst is difficult to aim at close-range enemies. It is okay to use Immortality Field to protect yourself, but since the cooldown is 25 seconds, it is generally better to rely on Regenerative Burst.

Immortality Field

Throw it to the ally in critical condition without hesitation.

Throw Immortality Field to your ally in critical condition without hesitation. When your ally is defeated, it creates a disadvantage in numbers and makes it difficult to maintain the front line. Protect those who are about to be defeated with invincibility and heal their HP to support the battle situation.

Protect your allies from enemy ULTs

Defendable ULT characters:

Immortality Field can prevent high-damage ULTs from enemies. It can protect allies within its range from wide-range attacks, but the turret will be broken. However, keep in mind that the protected allies' HP can decrease up to 20, so quickly heal yourself and your allies.

Place it where ally's sightlines are clear

Place the Amplification Matrix where ally's sightlines are clear so that they can make use of it. When activated, it creates a wall of light that enhances bullets passing through, thus increasing ally's firepower. So, it's recommended to place it where ally's sightlines are clear.

Not applicable to beam-type attacks

Be aware that Amplification Matrix is not applicable to beam-type attacks. It is recommended to be conscious of ally's sightlines, such as those who shoot bullets like Baptiste, when using it.
