Game Modes

Unranked and Competitive Play

Game Mode Mode Description

Compete to capture robots and advance to the enemy's base for victory.

Two teams compete for a single objective. The team who wins two rounds first is the winner.
Escort
Escort
Mode where you carry or prevent the payload. The attacking team escorts the payload to the destination. The defending team tries to prevent the payload from reaching the destination.
Hybrid

Mode where you carry or prevent the payload. The attacking team first secures the payload and then escorts it to the destination. The defending team tries to stop them.
Deathmatch

Free-for-all mode where you aim for the most kills.

Arcade

Short for Capture the Flag, this mode involves protecting your team's flag while trying to capture the enemy team's flag.

A mode where all players compete to achieve the highest number of kills in a team-based format.
Bounty Hunter

A mode where you defeat bounty targets to earn rewards. The player who reaches 4000 points first wins.
No Limits

A team battle with no hero restrictions. Achieve the objectives specific to each map to win.

Custom Games

Custom Games are game modes that players can create themselves. Additionally, by using the Workshop within Custom Games, you can play various mini-games.

Practice Range

The Practice Range is a mode used for checking character abilities and ultimates, as well as adjusting sensitivity. Since you can select characters who have not been unlocked, beginners should give it a try.

How to Enter the Practice Range and What You Can Do

PvE

A new mode is scheduled to be implemented in 2023. It depicts the second crisis in the story, with player vs. enemy missions being updated regularly.

How to Choose Game Modes

Unranked and Competitive Play cannot be selected

In Unranked and Competitive Play, which can be played in Overwatch 2, you cannot choose the game mode. Therefore, it is important to understand the rules of all game modes and be able to play in any mode.

Arcade can be selected daily

In the Arcade mode, which can be played in Overwatch 2, the available game modes change daily. You can only choose and play the ones displayed on that day.
