When Roadhog hits an enemy with his hook, he can pull the enemy right to his location. After drawing the enemy closer, you can defeat most characters by hitting them with your main weapon, making this a very powerful combo.

You can recover on your own without relying on support.

Roadhog has the ability to recover his HP and reduce the damage he receives for a certain period of time. Since you can recover a large amount of HP by yourself without waiting for the support character to recover, it is easy to transfer the support character's recovery to other characters.

Not effective against medium to long range enemies

Roadhog has weapons and abilities that specialize in short range, making him a character with little effectiveness against enemies at medium range or beyond. In particular, he doesn't get along well with Anna, and there's nothing he can do if he's put to sleep from a distance.

Rush forward carefully

Do not rush recklessly when using Roadhog. Despite having healing abilities and high HP, Roadhog lacks shields or mobility in general. This makes him a prime target for long-ranged attacks for enemies to use ultimates one.

Target mid-range enemies with secondary fire

When facing enemies at mid-range, aim for them with Roadhog's secondary fire. The secondary fire shoots projectiles that explode and hit enemies like a shotgun when they reach a certain distance. It takes practice to get used to hitting enemies before the projectiles explode, as the damage is lower, but it is a valuable mid-range attack for Roadhog. Practice to get a feel for the distance of the secondary fire.

Roadhog's weakness is his large hitbox. He primarily relies on pulling enemies closer with his hook for attacks, but due to his large hitbox, he is vulnerable to being easily hit by Ana's "Sleep Dart," which can stop his attacks, making her a viable anti-pick.

Attack from outside Chain Hook's range

If you get caught within Roadhog's hook range, you will be quickly pulled towards him and can be taken down in one hit if your HP is below 200. Therefore, try to defeat him with characters that have long range and can stay outside the hook's range, such as Reaper, who is less affected by the hook due to his 250 HP.

Environmental kills are possible with viewpoint changes

By combining Chain Hook with viewpoint changes, environmental kills are also possible. By bringing the caught enemy in front of Roadhog, they can be positioned near holes or outer walls. By aligning the viewpoint with the point of descent, you can aim for environmental kills on the enemy.

Take a Breather

If your HP is about to drop below half, don't hesitate to use it

If your HP is about to drop below half, don't hesitate to use Take A Breather. Roadhog is more vulnerable to attacks compared to other tanks because he doesn't have shields or armor. It is recommended to use it as soon as you think your HP has decreased.

Stay calm and refrain from using it while healing is being inhibited

When using Take A Breather, be mindful of healing inhibition and use it once the effect wears off. Roadhog is susceptible to healing inhibition as he doesn't have barriers or mobility. Since no healing can be done while inhibited, it is recommended to take cover behind obstacles and wait it out to recover.

【ULT】Whole Hog

Use it to drive away enemies rather than defeat them

Use Whole Hog with the purpose of driving enemies out of the base, rather than killing them. It knocks back the hit enemies, making it difficult to defeat them with damage alone, but it can be effective in securing the base or capturing the payload.

Aim for environmental kills

When using Whole Hog, try to aim for environmental kills. Since it knocks back enemies, on maps with drop-off points near the base, you can also aim to get multiple environmental kills. Make sure to familiarize yourself with which maps are suitable for getting kills.

Ability Combo

Try to secure kills with Roadhog's Hook Combo. Use the hook to bring enemies closer and deal damage with primary fire. However, it can be challenging to eliminate enemies with over 200 HP, so it is recommended to aim for headshots with the primary fire and mix in melee attacks to increase the chance of securing the kill.
