You can push up the front line with a shield

Reinhardt is a character who can maintain and push up the front line with a barrier field. Although Reinhardt himself will not be able to attack, allies in the back will be able to attack the enemy without taking damage, and it will be easier for other characters to make moves that catch the enemy by surprise, making it easier to break the enemy team's coordination.

High damage in one attack

Although Reinhardt cannot attack continuously, he is a character that deals high damage with a single attack. If you can use your high attack power flexibly, you can easily expand your range of activities by combining it with your high HP to defeat approaching enemy characters in one go, or use Fire Strike to stop enemies with low remaining HP.

Not compatible with highly mobile enemies

Reinhardt's attack methods are difficult to damage characters with high mobility such as Tracer. The main weapon can only attack enemies at close range, and Fire Strike can often be avoided against highly mobile characters, so it is recommended to use it with other damage or support characters.

Strategy Guide

The shield will never be broken

When using Reinhardt, be careful not to let the shield break. Reinhardt's shield can be deployed at any time, but if its durability reaches 0, it will have a cooldown of 5 seconds. The shield gradually recovers its durability when not in use, so if the durability is running low, step back for a moment and allow the shield to regenerate.

Push the frontline with your teammates

Reinhardt is the most durable hero with high armor value and a shield, so push the frontline together with your teammates. However, Reinhardt lacks long-range attacks and is less effective in dealing damage. Pay attention to whether your teammates are being attacked from behind and fight together, coordinating your actions.

Build your ultimate by using Fire Strike

Reinhardt can build up his ultimate (ULT) by using Fire Strike against enemies. Fire Strike is Reinhardt's only long-range attack, and hitting an enemy will charge his ultimate by 9%. Be conscious of landing Fire Strikes to deal damage to enemies and charge your ultimate.

Reinhardt's weakness is that it has a 5-second cooldown for reactivating the barrier. D.Va's main attack has infinite ammo and is effective at breaking down barriers. Additionally, D.Va can nullify Reinhardt's long-range attack, "Fire Strike," with her ability "Defense Matrix."

Deal damage to the barrier and break it

Reinhardt's barrier has the highest durability among all heroes, but once it's destroyed, he cannot deploy the shield for 5 seconds and becomes vulnerable. Focus your firepower on breaking the shield with characters like Bastion or Junkrat, who excel at dealing damage to multiple targets, and then concentrate your attacks to take down the weakened Reinhardt.

Charge

Useful for Returning to the Frontlines

Charge is a useful ability to quickly move back to the frontlines or to retreat.

Don't Charge into Enemy Territory

Do not use Charge to rush towards enemy territory. While it can deal significant damage to enemies by slamming them to walls, charging towards their territory makes you vulnerable for flanking. If the tank is defeated and there is no character to support the frontlines, there is a high possibility of losing control of the base, so it is advisable to refrain from charging into enemy territory.

Fire Strike

Shoot at places where enemies are lined up

Shoot at places where enemies are lined up with Fire Strike. Fire Strike penetrates through enemies, so it is recommended to shoot at places where enemies are lined up well to efficiently charge your ULT Charge.

Aim for places where enemies peek out against walls

Aim for places where enemies peek out, such as against walls, with Fire Strike. Although Fire Strike has excellent hit detection and range, its projectile speed is slow, so it can be easily avoided when shot at enemies head-on. If you shoot at a spot where enemies peek out, you can hit multiple enemies if the timing is right, so aim with the mindset that you will hit if you shoot multiple times.

Barrier Field

Checking if there is an ally behind the shield

Regularly check if you have allies behind you if using the Barrier Field. Reinhardt will be unable to attack, making him vulnerable if there are no allies to defend him. However, his barrier boasts the highest durability.

Pay attention to not have the shield broken

Barrier Field can be broken by the enemy. It is important to make sure the barrier is not broken since Reinhardt will become the main target of focused fire due to the barrier field’s five second cooldown.
If the shield breaks, quickly take cover behind objects and protect yourself.

Capture the Enemies in Front

When using Earthshatter, try to capture as many enemies as possible in front of you. When activated, it slams the hammer into the ground, creating a wide area effect in front of you. It won't hit enemies to the left, right, or behind you, so it's recommended to capture as many enemies as possible in front of you.

Check if the Barrier is up

Before activating Earthshatter, make sure there is no barrier in place. Earthshatter is a powerful ultimate that can stun multiple enemies, but if there is a barrier, its effect will be blocked. Before activating it, check if there is no barrier or if the barrier ability has been used up.

[Technique] Increase Hammer Range

When swinging Reinhardt's hammer, shift your perspective to the left or right to increase its range. The hitbox for the hammer starts at the beginning of the swing, and it is wider and easier to land hits compared to swinging it straight forward. Therefore, it is recommended to adjust your perspective to increase the range when attacking with Reinhardt.
