High Mobility and Agile Gameplay
D.Va showcases exceptional agility in her gameplay, especially with the effectiveness of her Boosters. This allows her to adeptly dive into engagements or make a quick retreat. Her versatility shines as she can effectively pursue low-health enemies or provide support when allies are in need, adapting to various in-game scenarios.
Resilience in Mech Form
While piloting the mech, D.Va doesn't get instantly eliminated even if her HP drops to zero. Instead, control shifts to D.Va herself. Though without access to missiles or Boosters in this state, dealing damage allows her to rebuild her Ultimate gauge and call in a new mech, making her a resilient force that's challenging to take down.
Limited Self-Recovery
D.Va boasts high mobility and a frontal projectile-blocking shield, but lacks abilities for self-recovery or HP boosts. Effective coordination with support heroes and awareness of health pack locations on the map are crucial. Prioritize team play to enhance survivability and performance.
Strategy Guide
Key Points for Strategy |
---|
Don't let the enemy take the high ground, keep your mechs from being destroyed, and push up the front line if you win the battle. |
Deny Enemy Control of High Ground
When employing D.Va, it's crucial to prevent the enemy from seizing the high ground. Elevated positions expose allies to increased damage, making it essential to utilize Boosters and Defense Matrix effectively. Employ these abilities to dislodge enemies from advantageous positions and maintain control.
Maneuver Strategically to Preserve the Mech
Preserving the mech is vital for D.Va's effectiveness. Strategic maneuvering is key to preventing mech destruction, ensuring continuous access to abilities and maximizing D.Va's impact. Gauge the level of damage during engagements, retreat judiciously, and prioritize staying within the mech to sustain your capabilities.
Seize Momentum by Advancing the Front Line
As D.Va, capitalize on her mobility to push the front line following successful engagements or during enemy respawn periods. Leveraging D.Va's agility allows for easy retreats even when alone on the front line. Seize this advantage to apply pressure, forcing the enemy back, and facilitate the advancement of objectives or payloads.
Countermeasures
Countering D.Va with Sombra
D.Va's vulnerability stems from her dependence on mobility through abilities, leaving her exposed to threats from long-range enemies. Sombra's Hack ability proves particularly effective in rendering D.Va powerless. It is advisable to coordinate with teammates to focus on D.Va from a distance, exploiting her weakness and securing an advantage.

Overwhelm D.Va by Attacking from Multiple Directions
Exploit D.Va's vulnerabilities by attacking from various directions as a coordinated group. Given her abilities' substantial cooldown periods and the limited coverage of her shield, overwhelming her from different angles can quickly lead to her elimination.
Take Cover When D.Va Initiates Self-Destruct
When D.Va activates her ultimate ability, Self-Destruct, a warning appears on-screen with an exclamation mark and the announcement "NERF THIS!" The mech will detonate after a brief interval, inflicting substantial damage. To mitigate the impact, swiftly seek cover behind obstacles upon spotting the warning.
Compatible Characters
Ana
Coordinate and Charge!
D.Va, who moves around with high mobility, has limited support for healing. Be aware of Ana's longest range sightlines and move accordingly to both heal and provide her Ultimate, Nano Boost, while taking down enemies.

Symmetra
Teleport the Self-Destruct!
D.Va's Ultimate, Self-Destruct, can be moved with Symmetra's Teleporter. Since many enemies expect it to come from above, quietly appearing behind the opponent with the Teleporter could potentially lead to a team kill.

Ability, Details, and Use
Boosters
Effect of Boosters | |||
---|---|---|---|
Duration | 3 seconds (max) | Cooldown | 3.5 seconds |
Damage | 15 + Knockback | ||
Effect | Fly in the direction you are facing. |
Get in close for damage and support
Use Boosters to quickly get in close for damage and support. D.Va's main weapon is an infinite ammo shotgun that excels at close range, so use Boosters to close the distance quickly and deal firepower to eliminate enemy damage and support.
Apply pressure to enemies on high ground
Use Boosters to apply pressure to enemies who have taken high ground. Having the high ground makes it easier for them to have a clear line of sight and puts your team at a disadvantage. D.Va, with her high mobility, should actively apply pressure, taking down enemies from the high ground and providing support to her teammates.
Utilize for retreat as well
Boosters can be useful not only for charging in but also for retreating. Since the cooldown is only 3.5 seconds, you can engage the enemy, deal damage, and then return to your teammates using Boosters, allowing you to support the team as a tank for a longer duration.
Defense Matrix
Effect of Defense Matrix | |||
---|---|---|---|
Duration | 3 seconds (max) | Cooldown | 1 second |
Effect | Block projectiles in an area in front of you. |
Use Defense Matrix frequently to nullify attacks
Use Defense Matrix frequently to nullify attacks. However, be mindful that it consumes energy each time you use it, so strategize to avoid situations where you run out of energy and cannot activate Defense Matrix.
Can nullify enemy ultimates
Defense Matrix can nullify enemy ultimates. Predict when the enemy's ultimate is about to be ready based on the time or their damage status, and nullify it using Defense Matrix.
Micro Missiles
Effect of Micro Missiles | |||
---|---|---|---|
Damage | 7×18 | Duration | - |
Cooldown | 7 seconds | ||
Effect | Launch a volley of explosive rockets. |
Utilize Micro Missiles in conjunction with your weopn to maximize firepower
Micro Missiles can be used simultaneously with your weapon to unleash maximum firepower. Since you can still use your primary fire while using Micro Missiles, it is recommended to combine both to maximize your damage output.
Use Micro Missiles while approaching enemies
You can use Micro Missiles while using Boosters to approach enemies. This allows you to deal damage while closing in, reducing the time it takes to defeat the enemy. By quickly defeating enemies, you can minimize the number of hits you take, so make sure you unleash firepower while rushing into the enemy.
Ability Usage and List by Power |
【ULT】Self-destruct
Effect of Self-Destruct | |||
---|---|---|---|
Damage | 1000 – 100 (knockback) |
Duration | 3 seconds |
Effect | Eject and overload your mech, causing it to explode after a short time. |
Soar into the Sky with Boosters
Utilize Boosters to propel yourself into the air and cause a detonation. You can inflict up to 1000 damage, but keep in mind that it's less effective if your target is hiding behind obstacles. To maximize its impact, launch into the sky with Boosters to limit the cover options for your target.
Emergency Escape with Self-Destruct
Self-Destruct serves as a valuable emergency escape mechanism when your Mech is on the verge of destruction. If your Ultimate is fully charged and you find yourself about to be overwhelmed, activate Self-Destruct. Since there's a delay before D.Va ejects from the Mech even if it's destroyed, seize this opportunity to swiftly rejoin the battlefield, turning the tide of the battle in your favor.
【ULT】Call Mech
Effect of Call Mech | |||
---|---|---|---|
Damage | 250 | ||
Effect | Call down a new mech. |
Hit the Enemy to Summon the Mech
After your mech is destroyed, target enemies while in the pilot state to summon the mech. In the pilot state, ability usage is restricted, but you can engage in long-range shooting. Each hit on an enemy contributes significantly to charging your ultimate. Be cautious not to get eliminated and successfully summon the mech.
Summon Near the Support and Damage
When summoning, Call Mech deals 250 damage within a 5m range in front of you. While the range is limited, hitting support and damage heroes can result in eliminations. Approach enemies quietly, especially in chaotic situations when they are not focused on D.Va, and aim for eliminating enemies with Call Mech.
Ability Combo
D.Va's Combo Steps | |
---|---|
1 | Approach the enemy with "Boosters" |
2 | Perform a melee attack just before colliding with the enemy (30 damage) |
3 | Direct hit with "Boosters" (15 damage) |
4 | Cancel "Boosters" after the direct hit and start shooting |
Total Combo Damage | 45 damage |
Use D.Va's Boosters to quickly approach the enemy and land a melee attack. The fast approach with "Boosters" is difficult to evade, and if you use "Micro Missiles" before the combo and hit with your primary fire after the combo, the damage will further increase.
