Rules of Control
Secure the objective and win by taking 2 rounds
In Control, teams take turns attacking to control a specific area at the center of the map. The game is played in rounds, and the first team to win two rounds emerges victorious. Secure the area, fill the capture gauge to 100%, and win the round.
The objective unlocks after 30 seconds
The control point becomes available 30 seconds after the round begins. You can't capture it until then, so focus on defeating enemies until the point unlocks.
Capture gauge increases while in the area after securing the objective
Once you've secured the objective, the capture gauge at the top of the screen starts filling up. Even if you step out of the area, the capture progress continues unless the enemy tries to take control.
Overtime occurs when the enemy is in the area at 99% capture
If you secure the objective and reach 99% on the capture gauge while enemies are still around, overtime begins. Defeat the enemy during overtime to reach 100% and win the round.

Secure the objective area and aim for 100%
In Control, teams alternate between attacking and defending a central objective area. Capture the zone, strive for 100% on the control gauge, and work towards winning the round, whether you're on the offense or defense.
The team who wins 2 rounds first wins the game
Control is unique—it's played in rounds, and the team who secures two rounds first claims victory. Winning a round is accomplished by reaching 100% on the control gauge, and a maximum of 3 rounds can be played.
Strategies for Winning
Winning Control Strategies
Strategies for Winning |
---|
Secure the area first |
Create a numerical advantage |
After securing the area, raise the front line and defend the area perimeter |
To secure victory in Control, focus on capturing the area before your opponents. If the enemy captures it first, they may spread out to defeat your team and maintain control. Avoid solo actions and aim to secure the area first, creating a numerical advantage.
Strategies for Tanks

---|
Try not to die |
Enter the area and prioritize securing it |
After securing the area, take on support and rear defense duties |
As a tank in Control, prioritize securing the area without getting eliminated. Since Overwatch 2 limits tanks to one per team, your death can lead to a team collapse. Concentrate on securing the zone while engaging the enemy in the vicinity.

Concentrated fire is recommended against enemy tanks |
After securing the area, raise the front line to prevent enemy control |
When playing as a damage hero in Control, attack from strategic positions like high ground to eliminate enemies and reduce the enemy team's numbers. Targeting the enemy's support and damage heroes can make it easier to capture the area.
After securing the zone, push the frontline to prevent the enemy from regaining control. Whether before or after capturing the area, it's beneficial to engage the enemy tanks with multiple teammates, as one-on-one situations against tanks are more likely to result in defeat.

Stay close to someone, such as a tank or damage dealer |
Be careful not to act alone |
Take on the role of defending the tank and backline after securing an area |
As a support hero, avoid acting alone and stay close to the tank. With only one tank available, supporting around them is crucial. After securing the area, take on the role of defending the tank and backline to maintain control effectively.
