In the Shadow of the Mountain Walkthrough

Meeting Sebastian Near the Coastal Mine

Begin the quest by talking to Sebastian who will be near the coast on the southeast side of the world map. Travel through the tunnel in the mine from Mine's Eye" to pass through the mountains. Proceed to use your broom or magical creature to fly to your destination.

Release the Floo Powder at the Coastal Mine

Before heading to the meeting point with Sebastian, it is recommended to make a detour to the "Coastal Mine" on the north side. The next main quest, "Lodgok's Loyalty," will occur near the "Coastal Mine," so if you release the floo powder in advance, you can shorten your travel time.

Defeat the Followers and Proceed Along the Mountain Path

First, talk to Sebastian at the destination. Then head west and climb the mountain path until you reach the mine. Along the way, zealots will appear along the way. Reduce their numbers by ambushing them with "Disillusionment" or using "Ancient Magic Throw" and "Transformation" while fighting.

Breaking the Thorny Path for Side Content

After clearing the first batch of zealots, continue straight on the mountain path. You will find a thorny wall on the left side. Burn with "Incendio" and then destroy the thorns with a basic cast to reach the Thestral's nest and the Trials of Merlin. If you have time, it is recommended to search these areas.

Defeat Zealots at the Garrison

There will be a large group of zealots at the plaza ahead of the mountain path. Keep your spell combos short, increase your evasion, and use "Protego" to buy yourself time.

Sebastian will rush on his own when approaching the garrison. If you want to prevent this and avoid the battle, cast "Disillusionment" after his dialogue. Follow it with "Petrificus Totalus" to reduce the number of enemies as well.

Proceed to the Large Cave While Engaging in Battles and Conversations

After finishing the battle at the garrison, climb the steps on the east side and continue climbing. Battle twice along the way, have conversations with Sebastian, and then examine the front door to proceed to the Large Cave.

Defeat Spiders in the Large Cave

The plaza inside the large cave will be filled with spiders. Too many enemies can ambush you off-screen. Keep "Protego" in your spell set to reduce damage and attack.

Incendio is also a great spell to use to burn them all simultaneously.

Proceed to the North of the Square and Destroy Obstacles

After the battle you will proceed to the path up the north side of the square. Aim for the stairs in the back of the area while defeating the spiders again. Burn spider webs and rock walls with "Incendio" and "Depulso" to proceed.

Attack the 3 Symbol Mechanisms to Proceed

After finishing the battle with the spiders in the hall, move a total of 3 symbol mechanisms to proceed. Stand in front of the door and attack the one on the east side and the two on either side of the door.

However, the symbol mechanism on the right side of the door is covered in spider webs. You need to remove the spider webs in order to move the mechanism, so it is recommended to burn the webs in advance with "Incendio".

Defeat the Mountain Troll and the Large Spider Army

After moving the symbol mechanisms, you will engage in a battle with the formidable Mountain Troll. Quickly defeat the accompanying spiders with "Incendio" and strategize by facing the Mountain Troll in a 2-on-1 battle. It is also effective to use "Transformation" to turn the spiders into projectiles.

Progress While Solving the Post-Troll Battle Puzzles

Guide to Post-Troll Battle Gimmicks
1	Repair the staircase debris with "Reparo"
2	Place the wooden crate under the broken staircase with "Accio"
3	Destroy the rock wall with "Depulso"

After the battle, repair the staircase destroyed by the troll with "Reparo" and proceed while solving the previously mentioned puzzles. Move the wooden crate with "Accio" and place it directly below the broken staircase, then destroy the rock wall with "Depulso" and jump over the gap.

Attack the Symbol Mechanism Again to Open the Door

After jumping over the gap, there is a door with the second symbol mechanism. Destroy the southwest wall with "Depulso" to create a line of sight to the symbol, then attack the symbol from near the wooden platform.

Obtain the Last 3 Paintings and Watch the Event

Proceed beyond the door and collect the "Last Canvas of the Three Paintings" on the table on top of the step. After collecting it, use the magic passage to return to the underground cathedral and add the three paintings to the canvas to watch the cutscene, completing the quest.

After Completing the Quest, Read the Owl Post

After completing the quest, you can challenge the next main quest, "Lodgok's Loyalty," by reading the letter from Lodgok in the Owl Post. If the main quest is not listed in the quest menu, open the Owl Post from the menu screen and check the unopened letters.
