Houses have different designs and locations for their common rooms. In particular, the entrance is the most noticeable difference as each house has its own unique gimmick.

Different characters available for conversations in the common room

The characters available for interaction in the common rooms are different for every house. However, it is still possible to interact with characters from other houses outside of the common room, so the impact on social interactions is minimal.

Some main quests are different depending on the house

Depending on the house you choose, the main quest that occurs in the middle of the story will change. There is no difference in the overall story, but the characters involved and the conversations will change. If you are interested, try playing through each house to see the differences.

Different trophies can be obtained

Trophies

In Hogwarts Legacy, you can obtain a trophy when you reach The Map Chamber. The trophy you can obtain will vary depending on the house you belong to, so if you aim for completion, you will need to progress the game to The Map Chamber with each house.

List of Trophies and How to Get Them

Hufflepuff is Recommended for Fans of the Original Work

If you are a fan of the original work, it is recommended to choose Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff story includes elements from the original work, such as being able to go to Azkaban and seeing the Patronus Charm. If you are a fan of the original work and don't have a preference for a specific house, choose Hufflepuff.

Hufflepuff Common Room Appearance and Location

Common Room

If you don't have any attachment to a specific house, it is recommended to choose based on the design and color preference. Since you will need to visit the common room multiple times during the story progression, it will be more enjoyable to have a design that you like. The colors of the affiliated house is easily noticeable, so choose a house that does not include colors you dislike.

Take the Sorting Quiz

If you still can't decide, you can take a sorting quiz on an official fan site. Based on the choices you make, the recommended house will be determined, allowing you to choose a dormitory that matches your personality and values.

When Does Sorting Happen and How to Choose

Sorting begins after arriving at Hogwarts

Sorting

Once you start the game and progress through the tutorial, you will arrive at Hogwarts and participate in the Sorting Ceremony with the Sorting Hat. Your assigned house will be determined based on the results of the assessment. However, even if you end up in a house you didn't want, you can choose your preferred house after the selection. So, there's no need to worry too much and just choose the answer you want.

Tutorial Walkthrough

You come here with preferences and preconceptions — certain expectations.
I can’t wait to start classes. Corresponding conversation changes
I can’t wait to explore. Corresponding conversation changes
Hmm. I wonder. Hmm. I detect something in you. A certain sense of — hmm — what is it
Daring. Gryffindor
Curiosity. Ravenclaw
Loyalty. Hufflepuff
Ambition. Slytherin

The recommended house changes depending on your answer to the second sorting question. If you don't have a strong preference, it's also fine to enter the recommended house.

After the questions are finished, you will be recommended a house based on your answers, but you can also choose a different house. It's not necessary to enter the recommended house based on the questions and answers, so if you have a house you want to join, you can simply choose it after the questions.

Is it possible to redo the Sorting?

Once it's decided, you can't redo it

Gryffindor Common Room

Once the Sorting is decided, you cannot redo it. Changing houses is not possible, so take your time and carefully choose during the initial Sorting.
