Learn it in the Relationship Quest "In the Shadow of the Study"

Crucio can be learned by choosing the correct option in Sebastian's relationship quest "In the Shadow of the Study." "In the Shadow of the Study" becomes available after completing the main quest "The High Keep" and the relationship quest "Darkness in the Bloodline." Progress through the main quest to unlock it.

Choose Any Option Except "I don't want to learn"

You can learn Crucio by choosing any option except the first one. If you want to learn Crucio, select an option other than "Understood. I don't want to learn the crucio incantation."

How to Use Crucio

Effective for Quick Damage

Crucio is a recommended spell when you want to quickly deal damage by increasing the damage taken by the targeted enemy and immobilizing them. Combine crucio with Basic Cast and other spells to deal more damage.

Use it When You Want to Curse Multiple Enemies

Once you learn the Crucio spell you can target multiple enemies and curse them.

Immobilization and Damage

Crucio can immobilize an enemy and continuously deal damage. It can also increase the damage taken from other spells you cast.

How to Learn Crucio If You Missed It

Talk to Sebastian in the Underground Cathedral

You can still learn Crucio at any time even if you choose the wrong option in the quest. The only requirement is if Sebastian is in the Underground Cathedral. Examine the hidden door near the staircase in the "Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower" and talk to Sebastian.

Cannot Learn After Sebastian's Expulsion

If you expel Sebastian based on the choices in "In the Shadow of Fate," you will lose the opportunity to learn the unforgivable curse. "Hogwarts Legacy" does not have replayability, and once you expel a character, you can never learn the unforgivable curse in that save data again. Therefore, decide carefully whether to expel Sebastian or not.
