Defense Against the Dark Arts Walkthrough

Go to the Classroom and Start the Quest

You need to examine the entrance to Professor Cat's classroom to start the "Defense Against the Dark Arts Class." You can find a shortcut to the classroom by heading to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower from the Central Hall and going down the stairs in front of you.

Use the Compass if You're Lost

If you're unsure of the way to the classroom, select "Defense Against the Dark Arts" from the quest in the Field Guide and use the magical compass. A beam of light will appear and guide you to the quest's destination as you move.

Learn Levioso

A spell tutorial while starting the quest and watching cutscene will begin. Trace the trajectory of the incantation following the same procedure as the tutorial and learn the levitation spell, "Levioso."

Defeat the Training Dummy using Levioso

Once you have learned "Levioso," try it out on the training dummy prepared by Professor Hecate. When you cast "Levioso" while aiming at the dummy, it will nullify the yellow shield covering the dummy, allowing Basic Cast to be effective.

Defeat Sebastian in a Duel

After defeating the training dummy, engage in a duel with Sebastian to learn how to use "Levioso" in a practical setting. You can win the duel and clear the quest by either depleting Sebastian's HP or pushing him off the platform with the recoil from your attacks.

Tips for Winning the Duel with Sebastian

Disable Defense and Cast Basic Spells in Succession

Sebastian activates "Protego" during the duel or right at the beginning to nullify attacks. When you see the yellow effect, quickly activate "Levioso" to nullify "Protego" and unleash a barrage of Basic Cast spells to deal damage.

Counterattack with Protego and Stupefy

When attacked by Sebastian, quickly activate "Protego" to defend against the attack. Combine the defense with "Stupefy" to disrupt Sebatian's posture and deal bonus damage while using Basic Cast.

Recover with Healing Potion if Hit

Use "Wiggenweld Potion" to quickly recover HP if you fail to defend yourself and take damage. If you continue to take damage and your HP reaches zero, it's game over and the duel will start over from the beginning.

Button Input When Hit by Levioso

When hit by "Levioso" from Sebastian, you will be levitated and left defenseless. Since you cannot defend or counterattack, input the buttons displayed on the screen to regain your posture.

Lower the Difficulty if You Can't Win No Matter What

If you can't win against Sebastian in a duel no matter what, it's recommended to lower the difficulty to "Story". Not only will the damage taken be reduced to a large extent, but you will also enter slow motion just before being attacked, making it easier to defend with "Protego".
