Herbology Class Tips

Learn how to cultivate plants

As you progress through the Herbology Class, you will be able to cultivate various plants on the potted plant stand. It is a convenient facility where you can repeatedly obtain potion ingredients and tools as long as you have seeds and plant pots. Plants grow over time, so if you want to efficiently gather materials and tools, try stopping by in between your game progress.

Learn how to use tools

In addition to cultivation methods, you can also learn how to operate tools that are useful in battles during the class. Tools are consumables, so they need to be replenished, but they are all items that can give you an advantage in battles. It is recommended to use them when you want to add some extra tactics to battles apart from magic.

Herbology Class Walkthrough Chart

Go to the Greenhouses in the annex of the library

To take the Herbology Class, head to the Greenhouse in the annex of the library. If fast travel to the greenhouse is not unlocked, you can take a shortcut by starting from the Central Hall or the Potions Classroom and then heading towards the Greenhouses.

Pull out the Mandrakes and put them back in the pot

Upon arriving at the Greenhouse, an event will occur where you learn how to cultivate the magical plants called "Mandrakes," which are also featured in the movies. Follow the on-screen instructions during the event to pull out the Mandrakes and put them back in the plant pot.

Planting Dittany Seeds in a Potted Plant Stand

After the event, talk to Professor Garlick to unlock the use of the potted plant stand. Plant the Dittany Seeds that you have purchased in Hogsmeade and let them grow. Harvest them after completing the quest and waiting for some time.

Dittany is useful as an ingredient for healing potions

By brewing Dittany into a Wiggenweld Potion, you can obtain healing potions at a lower cost than buying them from the shop. Cultivating Dittany in between game strategies can help you save money.

Harvesting Chinese Chomping Cabbage in the Other Greenhouse

After planting the Dittany seeds, follow Leander to the other Greenhouse. In the Greenhouse, you can harvest 7 grown Chinese Chomping Cabbage.

Attacking Dummies with Chinese Chomping Cabbage

The harvested Chinese Chomping Cabbage automatically attacks surrounding enemies when used during battles. Open the tool wheel, equip the Chinese Chomping Cabbage, and throw it at the Dummy to launch an attack.

Talking to Professor Garlick

After learning how to use the Chinese Chomping Cabbage, return to the first Greenhouse and talk to Professor Garlick. Once the conversation event is over, the quest will be completed.

Progressing Post-Game Quests: Potions Class

To progress through the rest of the story, it is necessary to complete the main quests: Potions Class, The Girl from Uagadou, and Trials of Merlin. Potions Class occurs near the Greenhouse, so it is recommended to complete it while doing herbology.
